Hello everyone. I
hope you are doing well. I am doing OK, all things considered. Just put in an
application on a spacious 200 square foot apartment in downtown Burlington. It is
close to everything and just 2 miles from Switzer’s crib. She lives in the same
neighborhood as Bernie so maybe I will run into him while walking the dogs.
But this post isn’t
about my move to Vermont, It is about my epic going away party. And you know I’m
not leaving until I get one last good shot of the Hanover Music Scene, with my
boys from the Winter House Band. So without further ado, here it is.
Set 1
Don’t Let Go, Bertha, Cold Rain and Snow, Jack Straw, He’s
Gone>Nobody’s Fault But Mine>Loose Lucy, They Love Each Other, It Makes
No Difference, Masterpiece, Half Step, Loving You (Sweeter than Ever)
Set 2
Scarlet> Dear Prudence Jam>Fire, HC Sunshine>The
Wheel, Free, Eyes, Lovelight>NFA, Franklin’s Tower
It was another
outstanding show from start to finish. I know the WHB practices like mad and it
sure shows. Jack Straw is one of my favorites and it didn’t disappoint. The jam
into Nobody’s out of He’s Gone was stellar and Andy unleashed some incredible blues
licks. I’ve been seeing him perform for 18 years and don’t know if I have ever
seen him do straight up blues like that. It gave me chills. Loose Lucy had some
real meat in it as well. The transitions were OUTSTANDING. They really worked
hard on those. Plus, 2 Band Songs!?!? Who could ask for anything more. Loving
You is one of my favorite Band tunes and that was our song (Casey and mine). So
that was a really touching tribute. Doubt the band knew that.
The Scarlet>Fire,
with a slight detour into Dear Prudence, was incredible. They always nail that
combo. HC Sunshine had a lot of jamming before heading into the Wheel. Free was
a huge surprise and I don’t think I ever heard Andy play any Phish before, with
the exception of a few half assed First Tubes back in the day. Eyes was it
normal amazing self and as always, they included the King Solomon’s Marbles Jam
circa 1973/1974 era.
I really want to
thank the Circle for allowing this shindig to happen. I want to thank Andy
Miller for all the musical peak moments he has provided me throughout the
years. I have definitely experienced more music with him than any other musician.
And I’ve known Sean Wolfe since high school. One of my first moments of rock and roll was
when Sean and Andy Kindon were jamming on Pink Floyd before the talent show in
spring of 1991. Coach Crumbling stuck his head out of a classroom and told them
to knock it off. Rock and roll indeed.
And so I am off.
I am not leaving Hanover until the end of July, so if you didn’t make it out
you have a chance to say goodbye. But to those that did make it out, I want
thank you from the bottom of my heart. It really makes me feel loved and lets
me know I did have a positive impact on our community. So until next time…….
Furthur!
